Remote Learning

With the Coronavirus pandemic, our schools in Alaska had to switch to teaching remote – whether this is online learning or via Zoom with paper packets, teachers and students had to get creative with how to keep education going while this pandemic is happening.

For some students, remote learning is turning out to be a successful experience and are doing better than in the face-to-face classroom. As one student said in this article:

“The reason I enjoy online learning is because of the opportunity to structure my day efficiently,” wrote a 10th grade student in English teacher Katie Burrows-Stone’s class survey. “I am able to workout, relax, and complete the work in a timely manner, with no distractions.”

We know technology can be an issue for some of our communities and it’ll be interesting to hear from our communities how their children are handling learning in an online environment.
